The on-line challenge tool is administered by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit on behalf of the Working Towards Wellness program. The privacy and confidentiality statement must be read and agreed to prior to creating your account and accessing challenges.

Commitment to your Privacy

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (herein referred to as “WECHU”) is committed to protecting your privacy, whether you are browsing for information or communicating with the WECHU through electronic channels. We are committed to not sharing any of your personal information without your explicit permission.  All information collected is managed in accordance with applicable privacy laws including:

Security of Personal Information

The WECHU uses processes to ensure that security standards for the operation of the website are current and adequate for known security threats. More specifically:

Access Controls

Access controls are applied to data and other files to ensure that they are accessible only to WECHU staff or approved agents for necessary purposes.


Personal information is disposed of according to the WECHU's record retention schedule. To ensure personal and personal health information is unrecoverable, any paper records generated are shredded, and electronic media deleted.

The on-line challenge tool may include links to external websites. The WECHU includes these links as a courtesy to the user and takes no responsibility whatsoever for the privacy practices of these websites. You should take steps to ensure your comfort with the privacy policies and security of these websites before providing any personal information to them. Registration and Passwords

To access challenges, you must create an account in which you assign yourself a username (email address) and a password. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of this information and for all related activity. You may not allow any other person to use your username, password, account, or other similar feature. You will notify WECHU immediately of any unauthorized use or if your account information is no longer confidential. General guidelines for creating a secure password can be found at


Health information contained in the challenge is only general information and is not intended to replace an in-person consultation with a medical professional. Nor is it intended to provide medical advice. Individual circumstances of which we are not aware may affect the information provided herein and as such, the WECHU assumes no liability or responsibility for your reliance thereon.

Limitation of Liability

Neither WECHU nor any of its directors, officers, employees, agents, website contributors, assigns and/or those for whom WECHU is responsible at law shall be liable to you for any expense, loss, or damage suffered by you and/or any other person arising directly or indirectly at any time from the use of this site, participation in a challenge, or if the website is modified or becomes unavailable whether reasonably foreseeable or not.


To the full extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify WECHU, (Spectra Energy, City of Windsor, and CCI), and its directors, officers, employees, agents, website contributors, and those for whom WECHU is responsible in law against any and all liability resulting from your use of this website and/or participating in any challenge or challenge activities including without limitation resulting in any violation of these Terms of Use, and additional terms and conditions that may apply and/or violation of any law.

Collection of information from you through this website and any subsequent use and disclosure by WECHU are subject to WECHU’s Privacy Policy, as amended from time to time.

Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Information

By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you consent to the collection of the information that you provide within your challenge account and any subsequent information that you provide to the challenge, and you further consent to its use and disclosure as follows:

 -  Providing challenge related follow-up messaging (i.e., emails) including educational materials and encouragement to participants.
 -  Compiling general health statistics in aggregate form.
 -  Evaluating the challenge.
 -  Planning of future programs and resources.

-  Invitations to participate in subsequent challenges.

 -  Determining points and challenge placement standings.

  - General and overall results will be compiled and disclosed to employers and other health promotion forums in various report forms with all personal identity information removed.


Your challenge participation agreement may not be amended except as follows:

The WECHU reserves the right to amend the Terms of Use including the Privacy Policy at its sole discretion at any time and from time to time.


Any challenge participant may withdraw from a challenge and have their information deleted at any time and for any reason at their request.
